When truckers are careless or negligent, innocent motorists sometimes end up getting hurt.

Truck Accident LawyerA passenger vehicle is no match for an 80,000 pound tractor trailer. When truckers are careless or negligent, innocent motorists sometimes end up getting hurt. Each year in the U.S. there are an estimated 500,000 truck accidents. Nearly 5,000 of these result in fatalities.

An accident in Springfield, Missouri, left a man hospitalized after he was in an accident wherein his vehicle caught fire.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol report stated that on Wednesday morning Shelby D. Blair, 21, of Fair Grove sustained moderate injuries in a crash that involved a tractor trailer. The accident occurred just after 6:00 a.m. on Highway 65, one mile north of Springfield. Blair’s car apparently struck the back of the tractor trailer and it then burst into flames.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the accident.

Tractor-trailers. Trucks. Semis. Big rigs. No matter how you choose to describe 18-wheelers, there’s no getting around the fact that when a car is involved in a collision with one, it is usually the motorist, not the trucker, who sustains the more significant injuries.
