These instances of medical negligence are hard to believe.

medical-malpractice-lawyersDoctors get their degrees in medication as license to do anything with you as you yourself don’t have any clue what to do with your ailment. This is perhaps right on the part of doctor as he has studied and practiced a lot before treating any patient. However, we should take into consideration the fact that doctors are, after all, only human and they are bound to make some mistakes. Even the best of doctors have bad days. The following are some of the most horrible examples of medical negligence on the part of doctors. The role of Missouri medical malpractice lawyer associations and Missouri medical malpractice attorney associations are becoming increasingly important to decrease such acts of negligence.

Cutting off the Penis of a Patient

William Morrison had to go under a treatment in which he had to soak his penis in 3% to 5% acetic acid. This situation could be horrible if the concentration goes above 50%. This is what exactly happened with Morrison. The doctor brought the 72% solution of acetic acid as a mistake and patient’s penis got severely damaged.

In another case Francisco Javier cut off the penis of a patient during the routine part of circumcision.

Suicide Due to Experimental Psychological Treatment

The job of the psychiatrist is to make the patients feel relaxed without any mental disorder or tension. Margaret Bean-Bayog was the psychiatrist from Harvard medical school and happened to treat a patient who had severe childhood abuse and mental stress. He never got any love or affection from his parents. She treated her by trying to brain wash her memories of childhood and gave him 10 cards to read many times a day until he believes the words in them. The cards had the statements that Dr. Margaret is the mother of patient and she loves him so much and he also loves her. After some days he committed a suicide and treatment failed.

Mistake in Vagina’s Reconstruction

Dr. James Burt has been performing vaginal reconstructing surgeries for years. He allegedly used to perform surgeries without even the consent of the women. Soon after child birth, he used to alter the vaginas. He performed surgeries on 2000 women and it was revealed that he was culprit of damaging their organs severely and the Ohio State Medical Board simply asked him to surrender his license; the lightest punishment you could ever imagine for the crime he was committing.

Treatment of 120 Personalities

Kenneth Olson, the psychiatrist in Wisconsin, convinced his patient that she has 120 different personalities as a part of psychological treatment. He then realized his mistake soon afterwards since she indeed developed personalities but all of them were extremely horrible. He then allegedly performed exorcism on her to plug out the evils from inside her. At the end he charged her the fees of 120 personalities. The total amount charged was $300,000. After treatment, she filed the case in court and won against him.

Insertion of Screw Driver into Spine

In 2001, a patient, Arturo Iturralde, had to undergo a surgery for inserting titanium rods into his back. At the time of surgery when his back was fully open, the surgeons found rods were missing. So they decided to install Screw Drivers in his back after removing the back cover. After some days of operation, patient got severely ill as the screw drivers got snapped. Doctors were charged under the law.
