On September 15, 2013, a man from Union Township, New Jersey, was killed in a serious motorcycle accident. But the other party involved in the crash fled the scene after seeing that the man was seriously injured or dead. Police have not been able to figure out what happened and the man’s family is desperate for answers. Now the Union Township Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of $10,000 for anyone with information to offer that can help lead them to the other party involved in the motorcycle crash.

The motorcycle crash happened just before 10 p.m. on September 15. Carlos Gonzalez Ospina was riding his motorcycle but got into an accident near ENG-R gas station. Some of what transpired was caught on a nearby security camera pointed at the gas station parking lot, but the circumstances surrounding the accident are still unclear and the identity of the other driver is still unknown. Union Township police report that it appears that Gonzalez was attempting to avoid hitting another vehicle and lost control when he veered out of the way. The gas station security camera showed flashing lights and then Gonzalez is shown skidding approximately 300 feet. The other party involved in the crash is shown on the security camera getting out of the vehicle – a light colored sedan – walking over to look at Gonzalez’ body and then getting back in the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

It looks like the driver of the sedan was wearing a bright colored top and medical scrubs.

Gonzalez was only a few blocks away from his own home when the accident occurred. He died at the scene from the severe impact of the crash.

Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 to anyone who comes forward with information about the driver of the sedan, and the victim’s family has announced that they are willing to match that amount. This makes the total reward $10,000 for information about the driver that leads to finding that party.

Police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward, reminding them that no one is facing criminal charges at this point and that they are still investigating in order to determine exactly what happened.
Gonzalez is survived by his 7 year old son and has many friends and family members who will miss him.
